Approximately 40,000 years ago, our ancestors discovered and inhabited the Japanese Islands in a remote region of East Asia, which had rich forests and oceans. Later, many people have brought their own culture to Japan and developed while they integrated in one way, but stayed independent in another. Our ancestors maintained a good relationship with the natural environment of the Japanese Islands, while they strived to invent earthenware and to improve cultivation techniques.
